Device Solutions is seeking a Senior Embedded RF/Antenna Design Engineer with at least 10 years of experience to work in a fast paced, dynamic work environment. As a Senior Embedded RF/Antenna Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the design of RF circuitry from transceiver to antenna, selection or design of applicable antenna, filter design, antenna matching, optimizations, system level design and evaluation and coordination with external design/test entities to successfully implement your designs.

Requirements:

• Experience with embedded RF/Antenna design

• Experience in system design and mechanical impacts on RF/Antenna performance

• Ability to perform RF performance budget analysis

• Design, schematic capture and layout of electronic circuits, RF transmission lines and embedded antennas (Altium preferred)

• Ability to operate network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, base station simulators, and other relevant laboratory equipment

• Familiarity with small form factor and wearable devices

• Familiarity with Bluetooth/BLE, WiFi, LoRA (+WAN), RFID/NFC, Cellular (LTE), GPS/GNSS

• Experience with antenna performance testing (patterns, active/passive testing)

• Familiarity with EMC/EMI/SAR/PTCRB requirements and testing

• Demonstrated design of power amplifier matching networks

• Demonstrated experience writing functional specifications

• Ability to work independently with minimal technical guidance

• Baseband and analog design experience

• Relevant Bachelor’s degree or equivalent

Job Description and Responsibilities

A Senior Staff Engineer is responsible for completing assigned tasks in a manner that meets internal and customer expectations for quality, schedule, and budgets as well as maintaining and expanding their technical skills and knowledge to ensure solutions developed by Device Solutions are appropriate and up to date. A Senior Staff Engineer must be able to clearly and concisely summarize technical problems and accurately assess progress towards completion vs budget.

 

In addition to responsibilities for their own work as outlined above, a Senior Staff Engineer must be able to provide technical supervision and mentoring to other staff. They must also assist with technical leadership and solution selection for projects and act as the key technical resource to the project manager. Finally, they are expected to lead development and improvement of internal technical processes and tools.

 

The Senior Staff Engineer will report to the Project Manager for each assigned project and to the Hardware Engineering Manager.

• Perform project-based tasks in a manner to meet or exceed internal and customer expectations. Tasks may include hardware or software development, test tasks, as well as documentation, high-level design, and brainstorming.

• Take ownership of project technical solutions.

• Provide mentoring and technical supervision for junior staff.

• Participate and lead project, customer, and other meetings in a collaborative and professional manner.

• Maintain a professional, team-oriented attitude at all times that contributes to a corporate culture aligned with our strategic values and plan.

• Promptly alert management to new risks or concerns and anticipate tasks that will not be complete per expectations.

• Generate weekly status reports which include progress assessment, technical status and risks for use by the project manager in customer facing reports and for internal use.

• Work with the management team to evolve processes and procedures to improve quality and efficiency.

• Maintain an organized and clean work area and public spaces.
   

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in relevant field with at least 10 years of experience

• Mastery of tools for electrical and/or software engineering

• Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-task, multi-project environment

• Strong verbal and written communication, presentation, and organizational skills

• Ability to convey subtle or complex messages clearly, as appropriate for the topic and audience

• Can quickly analyze, incorporate, and apply new information and concepts

• Identifies issues and risks early and takes actions to minimize impact

• Driven by customer happiness, success, and retention

• Ability to leverage team strengths and encourage effective collaboration

• Experience in product development environment of embedded hardware/software devices
